ChatShips

Battleship on stream: your fleet against your chat's. Viewers vote on a coordinate like B4, the most-voted cell is fired when the timer expires, and a hit earns another shot. A live heatmap shows where chat is aiming while they argue about it.

How a round works

  1. 1

    The fleets are placed

Both sides get five ships on a 10ร—10 grid, placed automatically and never touching each other.

  2. 2

    Coin flip

A three-second flip decides who fires first, or you fix it to the streamer or chat beforehand.

  3. 3

    Chat votes a coordinate

Viewers type B4 โ€” the letter and number in either order. Votes can be changed while the timer runs, and cells that were already fired at are rejected.

  4. 4

    Hit and fire again

The top-voted cell fires when time runs out. A hit means the same side shoots again; a miss hands the turn over.

  5. 5

    Sink the fleet

The first side to sink all five enemy ships wins, and both boards are revealed at the end.

What viewers type in chat

B4Your shot. A1 through J10, and 4b works as well as B4.

Streamer settings

  • Five ships, 10ร—10

Carrier 5, Battleship 4, Cruiser 3, Submarine 3 and Destroyer 2, auto-placed so no two of your own ships touch.

  • Vote heatmap

Live vote counts on the board while chat decides, hidden during the streamer's turn so you cannot read their plan.

  • First move, your call

Streamer, chat, coin flip or random โ€” set it from the lobby or from chat with !first.

  • Never stalls

A quiet chat gets a short grace period and then a random cell, and the streamer is auto-fired on timeout too.

Questions streamers ask

How does chat fire?

By typing a coordinate: a letter A-J and a number 1-10, in either order. B4, b4, 4B and 4b all work.

Does a hit end the turn?

No โ€” a hit earns another shot after a one-second pause, exactly like the board game. Only a miss passes the turn.

Can viewers change their vote?

Yes, until the timer expires. Cells that have already been fired at are rejected outright.

How long is a turn?

Ten to sixty seconds. Thirty is the default, and a mod can change it from chat with !timer.

Can chat see where it is voting?

Yes, the heatmap shows live vote counts on chat's turn. You can switch it off with !showvotes off.

Can I pause?

Yes. !pause freezes every clock, and votes chat types meanwhile still count. !resume carries on where you stopped.
